Featured Song for December: Pastor Lily 🌸

By Sammy & Sally Keter

Our December spotlight shines on “Pastor Lily”, a powerful and uplifting song that uses the humble lily to illustrate deep spiritual truths about endurance, sacrifice, and divine beauty.

This song tells three stories of overcomers, beginning with the lily itself:

🌱 The Lily — Born in the Mud, Raised to Glory
The lily begins as a tiny seed buried deep beneath murky waters, surrounded by slime, mud, and muck. Against all odds, it pushes through the darkness. Past the creatures below, past floating debris, past everything that threatens to choke it.
And yet—it rises.
It breaks through the surface and unfolds in breathtaking beauty.
But the lily does not blossom for itself.
It blooms for others—

  • Passersby admire its glory
  • Bees feed on its sweetness
  • Frogs rest gently on its petals
The lily welcomes them all, freely giving what God has placed within it.

✝️ The Story of Jesus — From death to eternal life
The song then shifts to the greatest overcomer—Jesus Christ.
Plucked, tortured, and murdered though He committed no wrong, He was placed in a dark, cold grave. His soul descended into hell carrying the sins of humanity.
Was that the end?
No.
He rose again, victorious, becoming an eternal blessing to all who seek His compassion, love, and forgiveness.

🌺 The Story of the Christian — The Bride Rising from the Ashes
“Pastor Lily” also reflects the journey of the Christian Church—the Bride of Christ—who throughout history has been persecuted, misunderstood, substituted, beaten, burned, and slain.
Yet she rises.
Above the mire of confusion and religious conflict, she blooms as a living expression of Christ—

  • Giving without price
  • Serving without seeking fame
  • Living a life that reflects divine beauty

This is why Jesus said, “Consider the lilies…” (Matthew 6:28–30).
They do not toil. They do not struggle. And yet they are clothed in glory that surpasses kings.

If God cares so deeply for a simple flower, how much more does He care for you?
Like the lily, God calls us to rise above our hardships, to shine despite adversity, and to live not just for ourselves but to bless those around us.

🌼 Let the lily be your teacher this month.
Let your faith bloom brighter than your struggles.
